J&L Laboratories utilizes several different testing procedures based on what type of chemical is being tested.  Base chemicals should be provided by the customer, so that we may build a reference calibration curve. 

Phosphate based scale inhibitors will be analyzed for phosphorus concentration by ICP-OES.

Polyacrylate based scale inhibitors will be tested by a turbidimetric detection method utilizing the Genesys 140 spectrophotometer.

Water-soluble amine-based corrosion inhibitors will be analyzed for amine concentration by a colorimetric detection method utilizing the Genesys 140 spectrophotometer.

Glutaraldehyde based residuals are quantitated utilizing a Hach brand colorimetric test for glutaraldehyde activity.

Customer notes:

Base chemicals should be provided by the customer, so that we may build a reference calibration curve.  In some cases, if the activity of the component of interest is not high enough, it may not be possible to provide an accurate quantitation.  Results will be reported in the customer’s chemical expressed in ppm.
